To Garstang, for a routine family visit (Thursday-to-Saturday “weekend in the week”) …
Travelled via the newly improved M&S at Warrington Gemini Retail Park: successful purchase of a blue jumper, the like of which I have been hankering after for a while. Oxtail stew for tea; don’t know where Mother-in-Law got the meat from, but it must have been some ox! — we were well filled and the fragments that remained were sufficient to keep her going for several days.
Off to BHS on the Friday, to get a lampshade and bedside lamp for the spare bedroom, which is process of being put right, following the central heating leak in the loft over Christmas. Excellent lunch at the Weird Fish in St Michaels: a place L and I had not been before, though it is apparently a favourite in the family.
Friday evening we were booked into La Passione for out evening meal, in company with Rosemary and Mervyn, and the late addition of Jen and Bill. This is a location we’ve had family outings to before, but under new management — previously know as Salvatore’s, and originally The Farmers Arms pub. The change of ownership has definitely not brought improvement! — in fact, the reverse; though most people expressed some satisfaction, while allowing it was not up to Salvatore’s standard, I personally was pretty disappointed.
Returned home early Saturday p.m. after lunching on Hamlet’s pies.
